How much are you sleeping at night?
Do you have good quality sleep?
I know in our society people thinking they have to go, go, go all the time, but I am giving you permission to give yourself a break. Give yourself that permission!
Sleep is a big factor in health. We need good, quality sleep to help prevent age-related diseases and as we age it gets harder and harder to get quality sleep because our body isn't producing as much melatonin as it used to. So let's try to fix it now!
Most people need 7-8 hours of sleep a night. Are you getting that? Chronic sleep deprivation can cause heart disease and heart attacks, mood disorders, accidents and weaker memory.
So, how can you change this? What can you work on today to ensure that you are getting enough sleep?
Here are some tips to help get better sleep:

Keep a consistent sleep schedule. Even on the weekends and during vacation.
Set a bedtime to ensure you are getting 7-8 hours of sleep.
If you don't fall asleep within 20 minutes, get up and do a light activity with no electronics. Try reading or meditating.
Take the TV out of your bedroom.
Make your bedroom a quiet and relaxing environment. Set the room to a cool temperature.
Limit exposure to bright lights in the evening.
Turn off electronics 30 minutes before bed and leave outside of the room.
If you are hungry before bed, have a light snack.
Exercise earlier in the day.
Avoid caffeine in the afternoon.
Avoid alcohol before bed.
