Are you sick of dieting?

Have you ever heard of intuitive eating? OMG, I only wish I knew about this sooner.

If you haven't, that's ok! I only have just learned about this recently and it has seriously changed my eating habits and gave me my life back. It's less stressful and is essentially the opposite of a traditional diet. Hallelujah!!

Intuitive Eating is a philosophy of eating that makes you the expert of your body and its hunger signals. It promotes a healthy attitude toward food and body image. You are the expert of your body! That's the way it should be. No one knows you better than YOU! So next time you are looking to start a diet, maybe instead look into intuitive eating and see if this is the right choice for you. Because let me tell you, in the long run, diets don't work anyways!!

Check out key principles of Intuitive Eating:

10 Key Principles of Intuitive Eating

  1. Reject the diet mentality. The diet mentality is the idea that there’s a diet out there that will work for you. Intuitive eating is the anti-diet.

  2. Honor your hunger. Respond to your early signs of hunger by feeding your body.

  3. Make peace with food. Get rid of ideas about what you should or shouldn't eat.

  4. Challenge the food police. Challenge those who tell you what you should or should not be eating.

  5. Respect your fullness. Listen for signals of comfortable fullness. Check in with yourself so you don't end up "stuffed".

  6. Discover the satisfaction factor. Make eating a pleasurable experience. Slow down and enjoy!

  7. Honor your feelings without using food. Instead of emotionally eating, find ways to deal with your feelings unrelated to food.

  8. Respect your body. Instead of criticizing your body for how it looks, recognize it for all its capabilities.

  9. Movement - feel the difference. Change your focus from losing weight to how moving your body makes you feel. Be active in ways that you enjoy.

  10. Honor your health - gentle nutrition. The food you eat should taste good and make you feel good. It's about overall food patterns. One meal or snack will not break your health.

What do you think when you read about these principles? Did you know that they exist? Are you fed up with dieting and ready to learn more. A great book on the topic is The Intuitive Eating Book, by Evelyn Tribole and Elyse Resch. I highly suggest it!
