Coming out of almost our second year of the pandemic and with all the division in the world, it is taking more and more of a toll on people's mental health. On top of that, now the winter is coming! Seasonal Depression is about to set in for many. Focusing on your physical health is important, but it is equally, if not, more important to focus on your mental health.

So, start taking the time to get ahead of going down that spiral and start making your mental health a priority today! You are worth it!


6 Ways to Prioritize your Mental Health

  1. Schedule a therapy session. There are now apps where you can schedule video sessions for as low as $35. Check with your insurance to see what might be covered for you. There is no shame in therapy. Let's stop the stigma.

  2. Do a workout. It is medically proven that "sweating it out" over time helps keep your mental health at bay.

  3. Put the phone down. It's important to take a break from the phone and make time for the things that bring you joy.

  4. Go to sleep 10 minutes earlier. Getting just a few more minutes of extra sleep can be one of the best things for you Start a night-time ritual.

  5. Get outside. Vitamin D plays an important role in regulating mood and warding off depression.

  6. Eat foods that are good for your brain. Healthy foods, like fruits, vegetables, healthy fats and whole grains have been linked to lowering depression. Make foods like salmon, dark chocolates, berries and spinach part of your diet.
